Rapper and Netflix personality Ghetts faces charges in connection with a deadly hit-and-run incident that occurred in London on October 18, as reported by the Metropolitan Police.
The artist, known as Justin Clarke-Samuel, allegedly struck a man with his vehicle on Redbridge Lane East, Ilford, and failed to stop at the scene. Tragically, the 20-year-old victim passed away in the hospital.
Clarke-Samuel, aged 41, made an appearance at Stratford Magistrates’ Court on Monday and has been detained in custody. He is scheduled to appear at Barkingside Magistrates’ Court on October 27. Authorities are urging any witnesses to the accident to come forward.
With millions of Spotify streams, Clarke-Samuel has collaborated with prominent artists like Skepta, Stormzy, and Ed Sheeran. He also graced the stage at Glastonbury in 2024.
Notable for his music career, Clarke-Samuel was a nominee for the BET Award for Best International Act: UK in 2008 alongside Chipmunk, Giggs, and Skepta. His music has received airplay on national platforms, including BBC Radio 1.
Having clinched the Best Male Act at the 2021 Mobo Awards, Clarke-Samuel was later honored with the Mobo Pioneer Award in 2024 for his contributions to British black culture.
Beyond music, the multi-talented artist is recognized for his role as the menacing Crazy in Netflix’s Supacell, portraying a character deeply involved in a world of violent crime.
