“River Island Recalls Handbag Over Lead Hazard”

Must read

River Island has issued a product recall for one of its items due to potential chemical hazards for consumers. The affected product is the Pink Floral Heat Seal Droplet Bucket Handbag, which was found to contain unsafe levels of lead on its gold chain. Exposure to lead can lead to health issues such as kidney damage and circulatory system problems, posing a particular risk to pregnant individuals. The item in question is identified by the code 927917.

In a statement released online, River Island explained that the decision to recall the item was made following internal testing that revealed higher lead levels than allowed in the handle area. Although the affected areas are small, they are accessible during use and therefore do not meet the company’s safety standards. Customers are urged to stop using the product subject to the recall and make arrangements for its return.

While the company believes the risk of harm is low, they emphasized the toxicity of lead and its potential health impact if ingested over extended periods. As a precautionary measure, River Island is recalling the product immediately to prioritize customer safety. Customers are advised to discontinue using the handbag and store it safely until it can be returned. River Island has expressed regret for any inconvenience caused and assures customers of a full refund.

For returns, customers can send the product to River Island Customer Service Parcels Freepost, MK17 8EW, for both online and in-store purchases. Questions can be directed to customer.services@river-island.com or by calling 03445 766 444.

To stay informed about other product recalls, consumers can refer to the Food Standards Agency (FSA) and Chartered Trading Standards (CTS) Institute websites. Recall notices may also be displayed in stores where products have been removed from sale.

In addition to the River Island recall, Tesco has withdrawn its own-brand Celery Fruit and Nut Salad 300g due to undeclared mustard content, posing a risk to individuals with mustard allergies. The affected batch has a use-by date of December 2. Customers with mustard intolerance can return the item to Tesco for a refund.

Kendamil infant milk has been recalled by B&M due to a date-related issue, with products bearing an expiry date of October 8. Amazon has also recalled a children’s swim vest, the Petiyark Neoprene Swim Vest, over concerns of a drowning risk. The swim vest was flagged for conflicting sizing limits and a lack of bright colors for visibility in water.
