A man is facing potential eye removal after allegedly gouging a road rage victim’s eyes with his thumbs. Ronnie Bushway, 46, was involved in the incident when Aaron Williams, 44, aggressively confronted him last Tuesday. The altercation ensued after Bushway prevented Williams from overtaking him, leading to a dangerous confrontation where Williams physically attacked Bushway.
The intense encounter unfolded around 8:30 pm when Williams aggressively tailgated Bushway’s car, abruptly stopping both vehicles after a series of erratic driving maneuvers. Williams then proceeded to assault Bushway, reportedly gouging his eyes before fleeing the scene. Although most of the altercation was captured on Bushway’s dashcam, the eye-gouging incident was not recorded.
The victim suffered severe eye injuries, with officials indicating that one or both of his eyes may need to be surgically removed due to the extent of the damage. Bushway underwent successful surgeries but continues to struggle to regain his vision. His family has set up a GoFundMe page to support his recovery, highlighting the physical and psychological challenges he faces post-incident.
Williams, who denies the charges of aggravated assault and maiming, remains in custody without bail following his arrest at his workplace in Burlington, Vermont. Bushway’s father expressed concern for his son’s recovery, acknowledging the long road ahead as his son’s wife remains by his side throughout the ordeal.
