“Ryanair Goes Paperless: Digital Boarding Passes Only”

Must read

Ryanair will require passengers to utilize digital boarding passes exclusively starting next week. The airline has announced this change effective November 12, emphasizing that physical paper boarding passes will no longer be available for download and printing.

Passengers must now use the digital boarding pass generated within the “myRyanair” app on their mobile devices, such as smartphones or tablets, for check-in and boarding on all flights. Ryanair stated that the majority of passengers, approximately 80% of the over 207 million annual travelers, already use digital boarding passes. However, the remaining 40 million passengers who prefer alternative methods, like printing passes, will be impacted by this transition.

Dara Brady, Ryanair’s chief marketing officer, highlighted the benefits of this shift to entirely digital boarding passes. He emphasized that the change will offer a quicker, more efficient, and environmentally friendly experience for passengers. Additionally, the myRyanair app will provide access to various innovative features like ‘Order to Seat,’ real-time flight details, and direct updates during disruptions, aiming to enhance the travel experience for all customers.

Ryanair assured that this move will reduce airport costs, leading to lower fares for passengers and saving 300 tonnes of paper annually. The airline addressed concerns of passengers who may face issues such as losing devices or running out of battery by offering assistance at the airport for obtaining boarding passes. For passengers without smartphones or tablets, a complimentary boarding pass will be provided at the airport if they have already checked in online.

Furthermore, Ryanair confirmed that regardless of mobile signal availability, passengers who have completed online check-in will have access to their digital boarding pass.
