“Scottish Woman Scammed by ‘Tinder Swindler’ Ex-Con”

Must read

A woman from Scotland shared a disturbing experience of being scammed by a man she met on a dating app, who turned out to be a convicted criminal. Shannon, as she is known, detailed how she fell victim to Christopher Harkins, also known as the ‘Scottish Tinder Swindler’, losing £3,247 in the process.

The relationship escalated quickly, leading them to plan a holiday together, despite knowing each other for only a few weeks. Initially excited about the spontaneous decision, Shannon soon realized something was amiss when Harkins began changing plans and requesting more money for the trip.

As doubts crept in, Shannon attempted to contact Harkins, only to find his phone disconnected. This raised suspicions, prompting her to investigate further. Shockingly, it was revealed that Harkins had a history of defrauding women he met online, with several others coming forward to share similar tales of financial, sexual, and physical abuse.

Harkins was eventually apprehended, convicted on multiple charges, including rape and assault, and sentenced to 12 years in prison in July 2024. His deceitful actions had resulted in defrauding over £200,000 from nine unsuspecting victims.

The chilling revelation serves as a cautionary tale about the dangers of online interactions and underscores the importance of vigilance when forming relationships with individuals met through dating platforms.
