Survivor Seeks Justice: Woman Arrested After Confronting Assaulter

Must read

A woman was apprehended for attempting to locate the individual who sexually assaulted her following a Tinder encounter.

Identified as “Elle” to protect her identity, the victim had encountered her assaulter, James Clacher, just 15 minutes before the assault took place.

Clacher, aged 57, was convicted of the violent assault in 2019 and later the rape of another woman. He had tried to fake his death and flee to Spain before facing legal consequences.

Around five months after his staged disappearance, police raided Elle’s residence and arrested her for Communications Act violations related to purportedly harassing Clacher’s family. She was detained briefly before a court hearing was scheduled.

In an interview with Sky News, Elle refuted the allegations of harassment, stating she was driven by a strong desire for justice and was attempting to locate her attacker.

During the trial at the Glasgow High Court, jurors heard about Elle’s social media posts and messages to Clacher’s relatives, accusing them of supporting a racist. Eventually, the case against her was dropped.

Elle was assaulted by Clacher in her home in Troon, South Ayrshire, in August 2019. She recounted the traumatic experience of being assaulted and ignored when she expressed her refusal to engage in sexual activity.

After learning about Clacher’s subsequent assault on another woman, Elle filed an official complaint against him, describing him as a fiend and a monster.

On the day of his scheduled interview with the authorities, Clacher vanished, leaving a suicide note in his car. In the note, he blamed Elle for his actions.

Clacher is set to be sentenced in Glasgow in the upcoming month.
