“Teenage Darts Sensation Mitchell Lawrie Sets New Record”

Must read

Mitchell Lawrie has made history by becoming the youngest player to secure three senior men’s titles, surpassing Luke Littler’s previous record. The talented teenage darts player from Scotland claimed victory at the WDF Irish Classic in Killarney on Saturday night, just days after turning 15.

In a remarkable performance, Lawrie defeated Ronan McDonagh in the final match, showcasing his skill with four 180s and an impressive 98.60 average in a 5-1 win. Prior to this achievement, he also triumphed in the Irish Classic Youths event, defeating Kaya Basal 4-1 with an average of 90.95.

Lawrie’s family, including his father Fraser and grandfather Dougie, were present at the INEC Arena in Kerry, Ireland, cheering him on as he clinched another title.

Setting a new milestone, Lawrie broke Littler’s record by achieving this feat at the age of 15 years and four days, five months younger than Littler when he accomplished the same. Lawrie is now preparing to compete in the upcoming men’s and youth WDF world championships at Lakeside later this month.

While Lawrie gears up for his next challenges, the reigning PDC World Champion will be defending his title at Alexandra Palace. Lawrie, who previously won the British Open and Welsh Open earlier this year, is focused on his preparations for potential future matchups with his predecessor.

Although Lawrie will not be eligible to face Littler in PDC competitions until he turns 16, his family remains supportive of his darts journey. In an interview with The Sun, Lawrie’s grandfather, Dougie, emphasized that they want Lawrie to carve his own path in the sport and not be compared to Littler.

Dougie mentioned that he introduced Lawrie to darts, teaching him from a young age to play with determination, which has contributed to Lawrie’s success as a skilled player.

Looking back at the rich history of darts, Lawrie’s accomplishments add to the excitement surrounding the upcoming World Championship, celebrating the legends of the game. Fans can explore more about darts legends in a special edition available for purchase online or at select retailers.
