“Tom McKibbin Closing Gap on Rory McIlroy’s Earnings”

Must read

Golf prodigy Tom McKibbin continues to excel in his career progression since he joined LIV, nearing the achievement levels of fellow golfer Rory McIlroy. Originally earning significantly less than McIlroy on the European Tour, McKibbin has now accumulated half of McIlroy’s earnings in 2025.

Despite finishing in a tied 22nd place at LIV Golf Indianapolis recently, McKibbin walked away with an impressive £150,000. This brings his total individual earnings for the year to around £3.2 million as the season concludes with the Team Championship in Michigan.

In addition to his personal winnings, McKibbin’s Legion XIII team secured a second-place finish at Indianapolis, earning an additional £1.1 million prize. This weekend alone, McKibbin added £277,000 to his earnings, while McIlroy earned £326,000 for his T12 finish at the BMW Championship.

With four team victories and other accomplishments throughout the year, McKibbin’s total earnings from LIV for 2025 stand at approximately £6.3 million. Despite declining McIlroy’s advice to avoid LIV, McKibbin is yet to claim his first win in the series.

On the other hand, McIlroy, who recently achieved a career Grand Slam by winning the Masters, has outperformed McKibbin on the PGA Tour, amassing about £12.3 million this year, nearly double the earnings of McKibbin.

Although McKibbin’s earnings still fall short of McIlroy’s, the gap between them has significantly narrowed compared to the previous year. Before joining LIV, McKibbin had earned just over £2.7 million from the European Tour and PGA Tour combined, showcasing a remarkable increase in earnings during his debut season with LIV.

While he has a long way to go to reach McIlroy’s £80 million PGA Tour earnings, McKibbin can take pride in his progress and surpassing a golf legend’s earnings this year. Phil Mickelson, with six major wins, finished behind McKibbin in individual earnings this season, highlighting McKibbin’s success in a short span with LIV.

McKibbin’s journey with LIV this year, alongside top-tier teammates, has been fruitful. Despite not winning an individual event, team captain Jon Rahm retained his individual championship title, with McKibbin securing a 20th place finish, ensuring his spot for the upcoming season.

As McKibbin aims to follow McIlroy’s legacy, he has witnessed Mickelson’s legendary status firsthand, indicating the challenges and opportunities ahead in his career. Sky has announced reduced prices for its Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle for the upcoming season, offering a wide range of live matches across various leagues.
