A tragic incident unfolded in Rome as a tourist lost his life after a fatal fall from a renowned monument, witnessed by his daughter. Morimasa Hibino, a Japanese national, tragically lost his balance and fell approximately 22 feet to his demise around 9:50 pm local time. The 69-year-old fell from the perimeter wall of the Pantheon in Rome while sitting on its edge. The authorities were promptly alerted to the situation when a passing priest noticed the man in a ditch. Despite the swift response of emergency services and firefighters, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigations are now underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident. According to reports, the man was perched on the wall’s edge before the fatal fall. CCTV footage from the area where the man was seated before the accident occurred has been obtained as part of the investigation. The victim’s daughter shared with the police that her father lost his balance and fell due to a sudden illness, leaving her devastated.

The Pantheon, renowned as Rome’s best-preserved ancient monument and currently serving as a church and popular tourist destination, was the location of this unfortunate event. This incident comes on the heels of a previous mishap where an American tourist, residing in Taiwan, sustained serious injuries while attempting a selfie at Rome’s Colosseum. The tourist had climbed a railing between the Colosseum’s arches, slipped, and impaled himself on a sharp metal spike, resulting in a life-threatening situation. Rushed to San Giovanni Hospital for urgent surgery, the man was described as being in a serious but stable condition following the medical intervention.
