“Tragic Railing Collapse at Canary Islands Hotel Claims British Tourist”

Must read

A 56-year-old British tourist tragically passed away in the Canary Islands after falling nearly 20ft due to a railing collapse at a hotel. Another visitor, aged 54, also fell and sustained severe injuries during the same incident in the Costa Teguise resort in Lanzarote earlier today.

The deceased man was pronounced dead at the scene, while the injured individual was promptly taken to the Doctor José Molina Orosa Hospital in critical condition. The emergency services were alerted around 1:30 am regarding the fall from a significant height inside the hotel, leading to the dispatch of the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC), local police, and the Spanish Civil Guard.

Reports indicate that the railing that failed was situated in an elevated section of the hotel premises. The Civil Guard has initiated an inquiry to determine any potential negligence in the maintenance or safety protocols of the hotel.

A spokesperson from the Foreign Office informed Mirror, “We are offering assistance to the families of the deceased British man and the British man who was injured in Spain.” Notably, in a separate incident in August, a 22-year-old British tourist suffered severe chest and head injuries after falling from the third floor of a hotel in Ibiza.
