“Trump Expresses Empathy for Royals Amid Prince Andrew Scandal”

Must read

Former US President Donald Trump has shown empathy towards the Royal family in light of the controversy surrounding Prince Andrew’s connections with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

King Charles has taken steps to strip his brother of all royal titles, including the title of prince, and has evicted him from the Royal Lodge mansion. The allegations against Andrew, including claims by Virginia Giuffre of sexual encounters when she was 17, have caused significant strain on the royal household.

During a press briefing on Air Force One, Trump commented on the situation, expressing regret for the family and describing it as a tragic circumstance. Defence Secretary John Healey confirmed the removal of Andrew’s honorary rank of vice-admiral, which was bestowed on his 55th birthday in 2015. Andrew had already relinquished other honorary military titles in 2022 due to the Epstein scandal.

There is uncertainty over whether Andrew will retain his medals, including the Falklands War campaign medal. The Ministry of Defence will follow the King’s decisions regarding Andrew’s status within the military.

Sources within the Ministry of Defence are contemplating whether Andrew will revert to his previous rank of commander or lose his naval rank entirely. His Duke of York title has already been struck off the Roll of Peerages. Andrew has a long history with the Royal Navy, beginning in 1979 with officer training and culminating in his service during the Falklands War.

His naval career ended in 2001 as a commander, but ceremonial promotions later elevated him to vice-admiral by 2015.
