“White House Section Demolished for Trump’s Lavish Ballroom”

Must read

Stunning images depict the dismantling of a section of the White House to make room for a lavish ballroom intended for Donald Trump, estimated to cost $250 million (£185 million).

The US President assured that the new ballroom, designed for state dinners and formal gatherings, would not disrupt the current structure. However, a significant portion of the East Wing is currently being demolished as part of the undertaking.

Witnesses observed machinery tearing down the previously pristine section of the White House, an integral part of the historic building for over a century. Sounds of construction echoed as equipment removed sections of the walls.

After footage of the project surfaced on X, formerly known as Twitter, Mr. Trump, 79, reiterated his support for the initiative. Via Truth Social, he stated that the modernization of the East Wing is a separate project from the main White House and will enhance its beauty upon completion.

This reaffirms earlier statements made by his press secretary Karoline Leavitt, who emphasized that the East Wing would be updated rather than demolished as part of the renovation plans.

Despite initial assurances, most of the East Wing appears to have been removed, aligning with Mr. Trump’s ambition to construct a grand 25,000 square feet ballroom while respecting the existing structure.

However, recent alterations to the official residence have drawn criticism for their opulent and extravagant style, likened to a blend of Versailles and Vegas, featuring ornate decorations and oversized portraits of the President.

Funding for the new ballroom is expected to come from private sources, including contributions from prominent companies like Apple, Google, Lockheed Martin, and T-Mobile.

Originally built in 1902 under President Theodore Roosevelt’s administration, the East Wing was initially a simple structure serving as the public entrance. Over time, it underwent expansions, including the addition of a second floor in 1942 for First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt’s offices.

During a recent unveiling of the construction site, Mr. Trump confirmed the complete demolition of the East Wing to make way for the new ballroom, promising a spectacular replacement.

As construction commenced, the East Room’s golden curtains remained closed to minimize disturbance, while the President acknowledged the project’s progress while hosting guests at the White House.
