“Sky Launches Smart Home Plans to Rival Ring and Nest”

Must read

Sky introduces new smart home plans in the UK to compete with popular home security devices like Ring doorbells and Google’s Nest system. The plans offer internet-connected cameras with cloud recordings starting at £5 a month, potentially saving consumers over £100 compared to purchasing a Ring system on Amazon.

The two available options include a Sky Smart Doorbell and Chime for £5 per month plus a £15 upfront fee, providing features such as full HD video recording, instant alerts, custom activity zones, two-way talk, and 30 days of cloud video storage.

For added security, customers can opt for the Smart Home Bundle with Smart Home Plan+ priced at £8 per month with a £20 upfront fee, which includes an indoor camera and additional app functionalities like scheduled arming and automatic arm modes.

Paul Sweeney, Managing Director of Sky Smart Home, emphasized the focus on making high-quality smart technology more accessible and user-friendly. The new plans aim to broaden the availability of Sky’s home security devices, moving beyond the existing Protect Smart Home Insurance to offer standalone services for the first time.

In comparison, Amazon currently sells the Ring Doorbell with Chime for £119.99 (discounted by £20), with additional costs for cloud recording access through a Ring Protect subscription starting at £4.99 per month.
