The Prime Minister has pledged to support future generations by announcing a series of agreements aimed at advancing the clean energy revolution. Opposition leader Keir Starmer is set to discuss the economic potential of clean energy at COP 30 in Belem, Brazil. The government has struck deals with various companies, including ScottishPower, JERA Nex bp, EnBW, and Statera Energy.
Highlighting the significant investments in the UK’s clean energy sector, the Prime Minister emphasized the creation of 800,000 jobs by the end of the decade, with over £50 billion already invested. He expressed determination in driving the clean power revolution to enhance energy security, reduce bills, and stimulate growth in communities nationwide.
Notable agreements include funding for offshore wind farms at Belfast Harbour and the development of a major battery site at Carrington in Greater Manchester. Additionally, investments in the Port of East Anglia and the East Anglia TWO windfarm in the North Sea are expected to create new job opportunities.
