A man who attempted to re-enter the UK via a small boat after being deported previously has once again been sent back to his home country.
The Home Office verified that this migrant, who was detained upon both of his arrivals in the UK, was deported on a flight today. Despite being initially removed on September 19, he managed to return on October 18.
Under the recently established ‘one in one out’ agreement between the UK and France, a total of 94 individuals have been repatriated to France. The Government criticized the man for his futile efforts to enter the UK illegally, emphasizing that he wasted his resources. Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood stated, “Those attempting to re-enter the UK following deportation under the UK-France agreement are engaging in a fruitless endeavor.”
The individual was promptly identified through biometrics, swiftly detained, and subsequently repatriated. Mahmood emphasized, “I reiterate that any attempts to re-enter the UK will result in deportation. I am committed to enhancing the removal process of illegal migrants to bolster border security.”
In a recent interview with The Guardian, the man expressed his reasons for returning to the UK, stating, “If I felt safe in France, I would not have returned.” He recounted his terrifying experiences in France, highlighting the dangers posed by human traffickers and the risks he faced.
As per a new accord established in July, individuals arriving in the UK via small boats can be apprehended and returned to France. In exchange, an equivalent number of asylum seekers with valid claims are sent back to France.
The Government anticipates that this agreement will discourage individuals from resorting to traffickers for illegal entry into the UK. Officials are optimistic about increasing the volume of repatriations in the near future.
