Must read

Kenyan officials have reported a plane crash in the coastal area of Kwale, with concerns that 12 individuals may have lost their lives. The incident occurred as the small aircraft was en route to the Maasai Mara National Reserve, crashing in a mountainous area approximately 25 miles from Diani airstrip.

Stephen Orinde, the Kwale County Commissioner, informed The Associated Press that all passengers were believed to be foreign tourists, with their nationalities to be verified later. The Kenya Civil Aviation Authority has initiated an investigation into the crash to determine its cause.

Details regarding the distinction between crew members and passengers remain uncertain. The plane reportedly went down shortly after takeoff, igniting a fire that resulted in a charred wreckage. Witnesses described hearing a loud noise and discovering unidentifiable human remains at the crash site.

Mombasa Air Safari, the airline involved, stated that they are cooperating with aviation authorities and will provide updates on the situation. The Maasai Mara National Reserve, known for hosting the annual wildebeest migration from Tanzania’s Serengeti, is a popular tourist destination.
