“BT Launches Smart Hub 3 Router: Enhanced Security & Wi-Fi 6 Support”

Must read

BT has launched a new way to access the internet with its latest Smart Hub 3 Wi-Fi router in the UK. Apart from providing stronger connectivity, the router comes equipped with enhanced security features.

The Smart Hub 3 incorporates technology that can automatically identify malicious websites, alerting users to potential online threats before any harm is done. Additionally, it can detect and block suspicious activity by hackers trying to access smart home devices like internet-connected cameras.

Users can keep track of detected threats using the Hub Threat Protect feature in the MyBT app, enhancing overall online security and preempting cyberattacks.

In addition to security, the Smart Hub 3 focuses on performance by supporting Complete Wi-Fi Plus, which helps extend signal coverage across the home and eliminate dead zones in areas with weaker connectivity.

While the Smart Hub 3 boasts a sleek and minimalistic design with a small BT logo at its center, it is essential to note that the router supports Wi-Fi 6 technology rather than the newer Wi-Fi 7 standard seen in some competitor devices like EE routers.

Although Wi-Fi 7 offers faster speeds, lower latency, and improved reliability, most current devices do not yet support it. Therefore, Wi-Fi 6 remains sufficient for the majority of households, representing a significant upgrade from older Wi-Fi 5 and Wi-Fi 4 equipment.

BT’s Smart Hub 3 will be accessible to new customers, and some existing users may qualify for an upgrade to enjoy the benefits of the new router.

The distinction between Wi-Fi 6 and Wi-Fi 7 lies in Wi-Fi 6’s enhanced wireless performance, speed, efficiency, and capacity compared to its predecessors. On the other hand, Wi-Fi 7 provides wider 320 MHz channels, reduced latency, and even higher speeds, catering to activities like gaming, 8K streaming, and advanced smart home setups.

For most users today, Wi-Fi 6 remains a robust choice, while Wi-Fi 7 offers a more future-proof solution.
