Carlos Alcaraz and Juan Carlos Ferrero have ended their coaching partnership after seven successful years together. Ferrero began coaching Alcaraz when the young Spanish player was just 15 years old, guiding him to become a champion.
During their time working together, Alcaraz achieved significant milestones, including winning six Grand Slam titles, attaining the world No. 1 ranking, and securing an Olympic silver medal. Ferrero, a former world No. 1 and Grand Slam champion himself, played a pivotal role in Alcaraz’s development.
The decision to part ways was announced shortly after Ferrero and Samuel Lopez received the prestigious 2025 ATP Coach of the Year Award for their contributions to Alcaraz’s success. Alcaraz shared the news of their split in a heartfelt social media post, expressing gratitude for the journey they shared.
In his post, Alcaraz reminisced about their time together, acknowledging the growth he experienced both as an athlete and as a person under Ferrero’s guidance. Despite the separation, he expressed appreciation for the partnership and looked forward to new opportunities and challenges ahead.
Ferrero also took to Instagram to bid farewell to Alcaraz, reflecting on the shared experiences, growth, and camaraderie they had developed over the years. He thanked Alcaraz for his dedication and trust, expressing pride in their accomplishments and excitement for the future.
Alcaraz continues to be coached by Samuel Lopez, who is based at Ferrero’s academy in Alicante. The exact reasons behind Ferrero’s departure from Alcaraz’s coaching team have not been disclosed.
