“Anita Rani & Father Mistaken for Refugees in Celebrity Race Mishap”

Must read

Anita Rani from BBC and her father, Bal Singh Nazran, encountered a case of mistaken identity during their participation in the latest season of Celebrity Race Across The World, while filming in a Mexican hotel.

Bal Singh Nazran shared the incident when the hotel staff confused them for refugees due to their repeated inquiries about the border location. Reflecting on the situation, Bal mentioned, “During our filming in Mexico, the hotel owners mistakenly assumed we were refugees.”

He elaborated, stating, “Our inquiries about the border location, as we were striving to reach the next destination, led to this misunderstanding. We asked the hotel staff at night about the border, and due to the language barrier, they used their mobile phones to translate and kept inquiring if we needed sanctuary.”

Recalling the incident, Anita also chimed in, “We were seeking directions to the border, and there we were, two individuals with a culturally diverse appearance in Central America. During the trip, my dad experienced his first stay at a backpackers’ hostel, where everyone, mostly youngsters, engaged in activities like playing pool and tattooing each other.”

Apart from Anita and her father, the show features actor Dylan Llewellyn with his mother Jackie, presenter Tyler West, EastEnders actress Molly Rainford, radio host Roman Kemp, and his sister, singer Harley Moon. The new season of Celebrity Race Across the World showcases contestants navigating through the Caribbean and the Pacific coast of Central America across six gripping one-hour episodes.

Harley Moon, Roman Kemp’s sister, expressed how the show transformed her relationship with her brother, noting, “While we are a close-knit family, being close doesn’t always mean being best friends with your siblings. The experience allowed us to truly understand each other.” Roman Kemp, who recently stopped taking antidepressants, found the race to be a challenging test for his anxiety, describing it as one of his most memorable television experiences.

The pair, whose parents are Martin Kemp from Spandau Ballet and Shirlie Holliman from Wham, highlighted their contrasting personalities, with Harleymoon’s fleeting attention span initially hindering her understanding of Roman’s anxiety issues. However, as the race progressed, they learned to communicate better and developed a newfound understanding.
