The late British tech mogul, Mike Lynch, and his daughter, Hannah, tragically perished in a yacht accident off the Sicilian coast. Angela Bacares, Lynch’s widow, narrowly escaped the disaster by being on deck when the yacht sank. Angela recounted her final moments with Mike before the tragedy struck.
Hannah, who died without a will, left behind an estate valued at over £5 million following the yacht disaster. The inheritance is expected to pass to her mother, Angela, who is currently facing legal challenges regarding Lynch’s estate. Lynch’s estate is embroiled in a legal battle with US tech giant Hewlett-Packard over fraud allegations related to the sale of Autonomy.
The High Court ruled that HP had overpaid due to misrepresented financial information during the Autonomy acquisition. Richard Gaunt, a Monaco-based businessman, is overseeing Hannah’s estate. Hannah and her father were trapped in an air pocket on the sinking yacht during a violent storm.
Friends remembered Hannah as a kind and intelligent individual, with plans to attend Oxford University. Lynch’s estate is estimated at around £500 million, and details of his will remain undisclosed. Lynch was acquitted in a US fraud trial before his demise, but HP won a civil fraud case in the UK posthumously, seeking significant repayments. Tragically, Lynch’s former colleague also passed away just before the yacht disaster.
