Pressure continues to mount on Andrew Mountbatten Windsor to provide testimony regarding the Epstein files as a private email exchange has surfaced discussing allegations that the former Duke of York engaged in “consensual sex” with one of Jeffrey Epstein’s employees.
In a bold move last month, King Charles III stripped the 65-year-old of his titles, leading to the removal of all official patronages and military appointments associated with the Crown. Andrew, now without the designation ‘His Royal Highness’, has been instructed to leave Royal Lodge and move to a property within Norfolk’s Sandringham estate.
This development comes after years of controversy surrounding Andrew’s relationship with the deceased Epstein, who faced allegations of sex trafficking before his suicide in 2019. Virginia Giuffre, an Epstein whistleblower, accused Andrew of engaging in sexual activities with her on three occasions when she was a minor victim of trafficking.
Despite vehemently denying these accusations, Andrew’s credibility was further challenged by Giuffre in her posthumous memoir, where she reiterated her claims of his inappropriate behavior. The recent focus on the Epstein files intensified as US Lawmakers voted overwhelmingly to release them, shedding light on an email exchange between Epstein and former New York Times reporter Landon Thomas Jr, discussing Andrew.
In January 2015, Epstein, already embroiled in legal troubles, sought to clear his name by suggesting to Thomas Jr that he could be exonerated from sex trafficking allegations. The disgraced financier, who had previously faced charges related to solicitation of prostitution, was advised by Thomas Jr to distance himself from Andrew, as the association kept the scandal alive.
Thomas Jr’s email hinted at a close relationship with Epstein and mentioned Andrew’s alleged involvement with one of Epstein’s employees. However, Thomas Jr later clarified that he was only repeating information he had read in the press, not directly shared by Epstein.
Recent calls by President Donald Trump to investigate Epstein’s connections with Bill Clinton have added another layer of complexity to the situation. However, no public allegations have been made against Clinton by any Epstein survivor or associate, with the Clinton Foundation asserting that the former president had no involvement in Epstein’s illegal activities.
Drawing on the UK’s swift actions against Andrew, US officials are considering following suit, with potential plans for Andrew to testify before the House of Congress. A formal deadline has been set for Andrew to respond to a letter from Representative Robert Garcia requesting his participation in a “transcribed interview” regarding his ties to Epstein.
As the investigation unfolds, it is essential to note the available resources for victims of sexual assault, underscoring the importance of seeking help and support in such situations. If you have a story to share related to this issue, you can reach out via email at julia.banim@reachplc.com.
