The Sidemen, a popular YouTube group, have revealed their intention to launch 15 additional fried chicken eateries within the current year.
Established in 2021 by The Sidemen in collaboration with Hero Brands, Sides has seen remarkable growth, with branches now operating in five locations across the UK and one internationally in Singapore.
With a desire to expand their reach, Sides aims to bolster its presence in the UK by opening new outlets in Scotland, Cardiff, and Liverpool. Additionally, plans are in place for further expansion in Asia and the Middle East, including ventures in India, Malaysia, Singapore, and the UAE.
The Sidemen, comprising Olajide ‘JJ’ Olatunji (KSI), Harry Lewis (Wroetoshaw), Simon Minter (Miniminter), Vik Barn (Vikkstar123), Josh Bradley (Zerkaa), Ethan Payne (Behzinga), and Tobi Brown (TBJZL), boast a substantial following of 22 million subscribers.
Receiving positive feedback, Sides has garnered favorable reviews, with one satisfied customer on TripAdvisor praising the food as “incredible” and the chicken as “crispy and scrumptious.”
Aaron Moore-Saxton, the managing director at Sides, expressed enthusiasm for the brand’s growth trajectory in 2026, emphasizing the surge in demand both domestically in the UK and internationally.
In a collaborative statement, The Sidemen conveyed their excitement for the future, highlighting their passion for flavorful cuisine, positive vibes, and memorable experiences that transcend mere meals.
Joining a wave of expansion in the UK’s chicken restaurant scene, other brands such as Popeyes, Wingstop, and Dave’s Hot Chicken are also pursuing growth strategies.
Popeyes, with support from private equity firm TDR Capital, unveiled plans in late 2025 for continued expansion in the UK, marked by the opening of their 100th restaurant in London Bridge, part of a broader strategy to target high-traffic locations.
Similarly, Wingstop UK, acquired for approximately £400 million in the previous year, has witnessed rapid growth and expansion.
