Initially, the White House had announced that Trump was flying from Turkey to Britain on Air Force One after attending a NATO summit. However, immediately after boarding Air Force One, Trump secretly exited the plane through the catering truck and boarded a different aircraft bound for Britain, as reported by the Washington Post, citing undisclosed sources.
Confirming the incident later, Trump stated that the Secret Service and military had advised him to switch planes due to a security threat, which he claimed did not intimidate him. He downplayed the danger to the individuals who remained on the original plane, including White House officials, security personnel, and reporters. Trump mentioned that he was instructed to board a different flight and plane, emphasizing that he had limited input in the decision-making process. He acknowledged the existence of a threat but indicated that he receives numerous threats regularly.
The situation raised security concerns and questions as Trump had initially flown to the NATO summit in Ankara on a recently renovated jet donated by Qatar but opted to return using an older Air Force One.
