The mayor of The Pas has stepped down from his position and will not seek re-election in the upcoming local election, leaving the town without a mayor until the new council is elected on Oct. 28. Andre Murphy, who was elected as the mayor of the northern Manitoba community in 2022, announced his resignation online on Monday evening. Deputy mayor Carrie Atkinson will take on most of the day-to-day responsibilities in the interim.
