This revelation came during his recent interview with KABC-TV’s Mark Cota-Robles following the tragic discovery of his parents, Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner, who were found fatally stabbed in their Los Angeles residence. Subsequently, their 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, was arrested and charged with their murder.
During the emotional interview released on Thursday, Jake described the surreal moment when his sister Romy informed him of their father’s death and their mother’s disappearance, which left him in a state of shock. Nick was formally accused on July 20 with two counts of first-degree murder in connection to the deaths of his renowned filmmaker father and photographer-producer mother. Despite his documented history of mental health issues and addiction struggles, Nick pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Revealed in the indictment unsealed on August 12, the LA County grand jury alleged that Nick had premeditated the attack on his parents. Notably, the father-son duo of Rob and Nick Reiner had collaborated on a film titled “Being Charlie” in 2016, reflecting Nick’s personal battles with addiction.
