Three security personnel at a nightclub in downtown Winnipeg are facing assault charges following an incident that left a Winnipeg Sea Bears player with serious injuries earlier this month, as per police reports.
Teddy Allen was reportedly attacked in the early hours of August 3 at the nightclub, leading to his hospitalization, according to the Canadian Elite Basketball League team. The individuals involved in the security team, aged 35, 37, and 58, were apprehended on Wednesday and charged with assault causing bodily harm, authorities revealed in a news release on Thursday. They have since been released on undertakings.
Although the specific venue was not disclosed by the police, it was stated to be located on Main Street, positioned between Portage and William avenues.
Allen, who has undergone medical evaluations and received treatment, is currently recuperating at home, as stated in a formal statement issued by the team on Thursday. He expressed that the assault was unwarranted and should never have occurred, emphasizing his determination to bounce back from the ordeal.
