After being eliminated from the W Canadian Championship, the Montreal Roses have decided to part ways with their inaugural head coach, Robert Rositoiu. The club’s sporting director, Marinette Pichon, expressed gratitude towards Rositoiu for establishing the foundation of the professional women’s soccer team during its early stages. Pichon emphasized that while it was a difficult decision, they believe a fresh approach is necessary to propel the club forward for the remainder of the season.
Currently ranked second in the Northern Super League (NSL) with 27 points, the Roses have 10 matches remaining in their regular season. Rositoiu was appointed head coach in September 2024 in preparation for the team’s debut season in the NSL in 2025.
In the interim, Maryse Bard-Martel, the team’s former assistant coach and head of goalkeeping, will step in as the temporary head coach while the club searches for a permanent replacement for Rositoiu. Bard-Martel will lead the team in their upcoming match against AFC Toronto.
This decision marks a significant transition for the Montreal Roses as they aim to continue their pursuit of success in the NSL.
