“Hudson Williams Lights Up Toronto with ‘Yaga’ Premiere”

Must read

When Hudson Williams arrived in Toronto on Thursday, King Street transformed into a lively celebration. Phones were out capturing the moment as fans enthusiastically cheered. Some devoted fans had waited up to 12 hours outside the TIFF Lightbox to catch a glimpse of the star of “Heated Rivalry” and secure a ticket to his premiere.

Williams was in the city for a special event and the debut of his upcoming project, “Yaga,” a series inspired by Slavic folklore with a touch of mystery and sensuality. Scheduled to be available for streaming in October, the show will showcase Williams in dual roles, promising a treat for his followers.

Filmed earlier this year on Vancouver Island, “Yaga” follows a private investigator summoned to a small coastal town to search for a missing heir from a wealthy fishing family, unraveling a web of hidden secrets. The series boasts a talented Canadian ensemble, including Noah Reid from “Schitt’s Creek,” Carrie-Anne Moss from “The Matrix,” Clark Backo from “Letterkenny,” Sheila McCarthy, and the esteemed Megan Follows of “Anne of Green Gables” fame.

Despite Williams not engaging with the media during the premiere at TIFF, his co-star, Moss, expressed confidence in his performance, stating, “He doesn’t need it. He’s doing great.” The event exuded a sense of national pride in Canadian talent, with Reid sharing his thoughts on the collaborative and ego-free creative atmosphere in Canada.

Backo, who plays a detective alongside Reid in the series, emphasized the growing appreciation for Canadian productions, highlighting the significance of supporting homegrown projects. The genesis of “Yaga” traces back to a play by Kat Sandler in 2019 at Toronto’s Tarragon Theatre, symbolizing a celebration of Canadian creativity and storytelling.

The cast, including Moss as a captivating professor entwined in the mystery, reflects the diversity and complexity of Canadian narratives. With the series set to premiere on Crave in the upcoming month, the anticipation among fans and industry enthusiasts is palpable.
