Thunder Bay native, Krista Scharf, is set to lead Team Despins as skip in the upcoming 2026-2027 curling season. Following the disbandment of her previous team earlier this year after a successful decade of competition, Scharf, a seasoned curler with numerous accolades, including silver and bronze medals from the Scotties Tournament of Hearts, expressed her excitement to return to competitive play.
Team Despins, in need of an additional player due to a teammate’s injury, approached Scharf to join their ranks. Embracing the opportunity to bring her experience to the team while maintaining flexibility in her personal life, Scharf looks forward to the challenge of adjusting to a new team dynamic. The team aims to compete for the Northern Ontario championship and secure a spot at the 2027 Scotties.
With a lineup that includes Abby Deschene, Robyn Despins, Rebecca Carr, and Nicole Westlund-Stewart, Team Despins is gearing up for intense practice sessions leading up to the upcoming season. Scharf is eager to contribute her skills and help her new teammates reach their competitive goals on the ice.
