In July, a lightsaber featuring Luke Skywalker’s severed hand from the movie “The Empire Strikes Back” was sold at auction for a record-breaking $3.75 million US. This marked the highest amount ever paid for a prop used in a “Star Wars” film, as confirmed by the auction house.
Now, enthusiasts have the opportunity to bid on the lightsaber that was involved in the iconic scene. A Darth Vader lightsaber utilized in the pivotal duel at Cloud City, where the famous line “I am your father” was delivered to Skywalker, will be one of the main attractions at the upcoming Ultimate Star Wars Auction set to take place on Nov. 12.
Anticipated to command a minimum of $1 million US, the Vader lightsaber was also featured in “Return of the Jedi.” This item is part of a collection of over two dozen lightsaber props that will be available for bidding, covering the various “Star Wars” Episodes I to IX, along with props from other productions within the George Lucas universe.
Among the items up for grabs are the lightsabers wielded by Ewan McGregor’s Obi-Wan Kenobi and Hayden Christensen’s Anakin Skywalker in “Revenge of the Sith,” with each expected to fetch at least $10,000 US.
Additionally, an EE-3 carbine blaster carried by Boba Fett in “The Empire Strikes Back” is projected to fetch over $100,000 US. The auction also includes a Yoda puppet hand used by Frank Oz in the original appearance of the character, a signed third-draft screenplay of the 1977 “Star Wars” by Anthony Daniels who portrayed C-3PO, and a TIE Fighter pilot helmet from “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.”
