Apple has officially released the iOS 27 public beta, allowing iPhone users to test out the upcoming software upgrade before its official launch in September. Interested users can sign up for the beta program on Apple’s Software Beta Program site to try out the new features.
One of the major improvements in iOS 27 is the significant upgrade to Siri, enhancing its capabilities in finding information, responding to messages, and handling complex requests. The update also introduces a Visual Intelligence mode in the Camera app for instant information retrieval by pointing the iPhone at objects.
iOS 27 brings noticeable speed enhancements, particularly for older iPhone models like the iPhone 11 and iPhone 12, with apps launching up to 30% faster and faster photo loading and AirDrop transfers. Users can now customize the transparency of the interface with a new transparency slider, offering a range of appearance options.
Additional features in iOS 27 include refreshed app icons, upgraded photo-editing tools with Spatial Reframing, improved connectivity for seamless network switching, and enhanced control for AirPods users with the new AirPods Custom EQ feature.
To access the iOS 27 beta, users can enroll in the Apple Beta Software Program and update to iOS 27 Public Beta through the Settings app on their iPhones. It’s important to note that reverting to a previous iOS version from iOS 27 requires a full factory reset, so users are advised to back up their data before making the switch.
