Paige Bueckers delivered a stellar performance in the second half, scoring all 22 of her points to lead the Dallas Wings to a 94-88 victory over the struggling Toronto Tempo. Bueckers had a standout third quarter, scoring 13 points by going a perfect 4 of 4 from both the field and the free-throw line, after a scoreless first half. The win snapped a three-game losing streak for the Wings.
Arike Ogunbowale also had an impressive game, contributing 21 points with season-high free throw accuracy, making 13 of 14 attempts. Alanna Smith recorded a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds, while Awak Kuier added 14 points to the team’s victory.
Dallas played without key players Jessica Shepard and Azzi Fudd. Shepard suffered an ankle injury in the previous game, while Fudd was sidelined for the third consecutive game due to a knee injury.
Marina Mabrey led the Tempo with 23 points, 14 of which came in the fourth quarter as the team tried to mount a comeback after falling behind by 18 points in the third quarter.
Bueckers showcased her all-around skills with eight assists and three steals, one of which led to a crucial breakaway layup that extended Dallas’ lead to 10 points with just over three minutes remaining in the game. Despite a late surge from the Tempo cutting the lead to four points, Bueckers’ clutch jumper widened the gap to six before a charge was called on Isabelle Harrison.
Bueckers was efficient in the second half, shooting 7 of 11 from the field and making all seven of her free throws. Laura Juskaite contributed 18 points, and Kia Nurse added 16 for Toronto, who were missing starters Brittney Sykes and Julie Allemand.
