“Rise Soar Past Ottawa Rapid 5-1 in Super League Match”

In her first game for Vancouver, Alex Lamontagne netted two goals as the Rise triumphed over the top-ranked Ottawa Rapid 5-1 in Northern Super League action on Saturday. Anna Bout, Maithe Lopez, and Camila Reyes, who converted a penalty shot, also found the back of the net for the Rise. Scoring three goals within a 10-minute span early in the second half, Vancouver comfortably secured the victory at TD Place. The Rapid managed to score through Elise Bell in the 82nd minute, breaking Jessica Wulf’s bid for a shutout.

Following this win, the Rise climbed to fourth place in the league standings, one point ahead of the Halifax Tide. Their record now stands at seven wins, one draw, and nine losses, accumulating 22 points. Ottawa Rapid maintains their lead with 33 points, staying three points ahead of the Montreal Roses, with a record of 10 wins, four losses, and three draws.

Vancouver held a slight edge in possession at 53% compared to Ottawa’s 47% and outshot the home team 17-8, with 11 shots on target against Ottawa’s three. The Rise also earned four corners compared to the Rapid’s three, with both teams receiving two yellow cards each.

In the upcoming fixtures, the Rise will host the Calgary Wild on Saturday, August 29, while the Rapid will travel to face AFC Toronto on Sunday, August 30.
