Sky customers who enjoy movie marathons are in for a change on their screens this week. The television provider has announced a revamp of its channel lineup by merging Sky Cinema Animation (channel 312) with Sky Cinema Family, effective April 30.
The consolidation aims to streamline the service, offering a single hub for family-friendly films on channel 304. This means viewers will have easy access to popular titles like the Shrek series, The Secret Life of Pets, Smurfs, How to Train Your Dragon, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, and Wicked all in one place.
While there will be one less channel available, all content previously found on Sky Cinema Animation will still be accessible through Sky Cinema Family. Additionally, for fans of Sky Cinema Animation, the standalone channel will make a temporary return during school holidays to entertain kids. These holiday periods include July 24 to August 30, October 23 to November 1, and December 1 to January 5.
In other news, Sky has ventured into the home security market with the introduction of new smart devices. Customers can subscribe to a Sky Smart Doorbell and Chime for £5 per month, along with a £15 upfront fee. This system features full HD video recording, instant mobile alerts, customizable activity zones, two-way audio, and 30 days of cloud video storage.
For those seeking more advanced options, Sky offers a Smart Home Bundle with Smart Home Plan+ for £8 per month and a £20 upfront cost. This package includes an indoor camera and additional app controls such as scheduled arming and automatic device modes.
Paul Sweeney, Managing Director of Sky Smart Home, emphasized the company’s goal of making premium smart technology more accessible. Sky focuses on providing valued features that are user-friendly, easy to manage, and cost-effective.
