The White House and a spokesperson for Swift did not immediately provide comments on the matter. Swift has not recently addressed Trump directly, but she did endorse his Democratic opponent, then Vice President Kamala Harris, in 2024. During the 2020 election, Swift made it clear on social media that she did not support Trump as president.
Trump, on the other hand, has been vocal in his criticism of Swift. After she endorsed Harris, Trump expressed his dislike for Swift on social media by stating, “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!” He also made a comment insinuating that Swift’s popularity had declined since he publicly expressed his dislike for her.
Various artists, including Sabrina Carpenter and Ariana Grande, have also requested that the Trump administration refrain from using their music in campaigns.
References to Taylor Swift Songs on TikTok
Recently, the Trump campaign featured two Taylor Swift songs on its TikTok page. One of the videos referenced Swift’s popular songs with a caption like, “Red (Donald Trump’s Version).” In June, another video posted by Trump’s campaign on TikTok used Swift’s track from the fictional movie Toy Story 5, with a caption praising President Donald J. Trump’s love for the country and its people.
This is the third occasion where the Trump administration or his campaign has utilized Taylor Swift’s music in their campaigns in recent months.
