The Original Factory Shop has recently enlisted the help of administrators, Interpath Advisory, amid financial challenges. This move has put 137 stores and 1,180 jobs in jeopardy. While the physical stores are operating normally, the online platform has been closed for the time being.
According to the administrators, The Original Factory Shop has been struggling with escalating costs, including labor expenses, and a decrease in sales due to reduced consumer spending. Compounding these issues are complications related to its third-party warehouse and logistics provider. The company, established in 1969, was acquired by Modella Capital last year.
Rick Harrison, the managing director at Interpath and joint administrator, expressed regret over the situation, citing trading difficulties as the reason for the administration. He assured that efforts will be made to keep the stores running while exploring options for the business in the coming weeks.
