Tragic Fall at Grand Canyon Claims Man’s Life

Must read

A man, aged 65, tragically passed away after slipping and falling from the edge of the Grand Canyon. The incident occurred at Guano Point on the western rim of the canyon, situated on the Hualapai Reservation, as reported by the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office.

The rescue operation involved Hualapai Nation technicians and the sheriff’s office, who utilized ropes to create a pulley system. The system was lowered into the canyon to retrieve the man’s body on Thursday afternoon, approximately 130 feet below on a scree pile.

The sheriff’s office stated that Search and Rescue teams located the man and set up a rope system for recovery. The body was then transported to the Mohave County Medical Examiner’s Office for further examination.

Assistance during the recovery operation was provided by various entities including the Hualapai Tribal Police Department, Hualapai Nation Fire, and Grand Canyon West Security. The sheriff’s office expressed condolences to the man’s family and requested privacy for them during this difficult time.

The identity of the deceased individual has not been disclosed. This incident follows a similar tragedy in September when a 27-year-old man named Steven Bradley lost his life in Grand Canyon National Park after his vehicle went over a rim near the South Kaibab Trailhead, with his body discovered about 300 feet below the rim.
