A men’s fashion brand based in the UK has gone out of business after entering administration. Great Clothing Ltd, trading under the name Big Boys, specialized in offering plus-size clothing for men, ranging from 2XL to 10XL. The company, situated in Leeds, employed an average of 12 staff members in 2025.
Chris Brooksbank from CB Business Recovery Ltd has been named as the administrator for the company. A statement on the Big Boys website stated that despite efforts to address financial difficulties, continuing operations were no longer feasible.
An insolvency practitioner has been engaged to oversee the company’s affairs and business operations. River Island, a popular retailer, will be closing at least 27 stores this month as part of a restructuring plan. Several branches, including those in Brighton, Edinburgh Princes Street, Great Yarmouth, and Stockton-on-Tees, have already shut down.
Additional locations, such as Norwich, Norfolk, and Workington, Cumbria, are also included in the closure list, with closure dates pending confirmation. Poundland, another retail chain, is planning to close 12 stores in January after receiving approval from the High Court for a reorganization strategy. Last year, the discount retailer closed 57 stores as part of its initial plans.
Poundland, previously acquired by investment firm Gordon Brothers for a nominal fee, is expected to reduce its store count from 800 to approximately 650-700 through closures and lease expirations. The company has introduced a new pricing structure of £1, £2, and £3 for grocery items in its UK stores, with most items priced at £1. Additionally, Poundland has updated its website to function solely as a product browsing platform, discontinuing online purchases.
