“TV News Anchor Charged with Mother’s Murder”

Must read

A television news journalist has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with the deadly stabbing of her elderly mother. Angelynn ‘Angie’ Mock, a former morning news anchor at Fox 2 News in St. Louis, Missouri, was found by officers covered in blood outside her residence where her mother, Anita Avers, was discovered with multiple stab wounds.

Anita Avers, an 80-year-old marriage and family therapist, was pronounced dead at a local hospital after the incident on the morning of October 31. Mock, 47, had injuries on her hands when the authorities arrived and was also treated at the hospital before being taken into custody.

Having worked at Fox 2 News from 2011 to 2015, Mock is currently held on a $1 million bond for the first-degree murder charge at Sedgwick County Jail. Details about her legal representation are not yet confirmed as her charge remains active.

A neighbor, Alyssa Castro, recounted the incident where Mock, covered in blood, approached her vehicle seeking help to call 911. Emergency dispatchers were informed that the mother was allegedly stabbed in self-defense. Authorities have not disclosed further information, describing it as a domestic conflict.

Mock, who transitioned from a sports reporter to a successful news anchor, had been working in sales at a software firm before her arrest. Her LinkedIn profile indicates her prior positions at Oklahoma City’s KOKH FOX 25 before the career shift.
