“Asda Introduces New Pricing Pledge to Outdo Competitors”

Must read

Asda has introduced a new pricing pledge, offering lower prices than Tesco, Sainsbury’s, and Morrisons on thousands of everyday items. The supermarket now provides over 2,300 products at reduced prices compared to its competitors, spanning fresh meat, produce, chilled goods, core groceries, and bakery items.

Moreover, Asda has announced a special promotion for January, where customers will receive a 10% rebate in Asda Rewards Cashpot on all fresh produce purchases made in-store.

Rachel Eyre, Asda’s Chief Customer Officer, expressed the company’s commitment to assisting families in managing their post-holiday budgets by providing the best prices on commonly purchased items. The Asda Price initiative ensures affordability and transparency in pricing for all customers without the necessity of a loyalty card.

In contrast, Asda faced a challenging Christmas period, with its market share dropping to 11.4% in the 12 weeks leading up to December 28, according to data from analysts Worldpanel. The supermarket experienced a 4.2% decline in sales during this time, marking its 22nd consecutive month of sales decrease. Conversely, competitors Tesco and Sainsbury’s saw growth in customer numbers, further solidifying their position ahead of Asda, the UK’s third-largest supermarket.

Recently, Tesco unveiled a commitment to maintaining the prices of 3,000 branded products at consistently low levels through its new Everyday Low Prices campaign, reinforcing the ongoing price competitiveness among major supermarket chains.
