“UK Freeview Users Urged to Retune for Recent Channel Changes”

Must read

UK households relying on Freeview for their television content are advised to check their equipment and perform a quick retune due to recent channel changes. While not a significant overhaul, a quick retune will ensure that TVs are fully updated.

Freeview has confirmed that on May 20, 2026, some broadcasters will be making changes to their channels. Viewers are encouraged to retune their TVs to keep their channel lineup and TV guide current.

Among the changes, two channels have been renamed. Hobbycraft TV on channel 97 is now known as Shop Unlimited, and Great! Romance Mix on channel 61 has been replaced by Great! TV +1. Additionally, there have been adjustments to channel numbers, with Great! Movies moving from channel 61 to channel 62, and Great! TV +1 taking over channel 61.

Freeview stated, “Channels on Freeview are constantly evolving as individual providers decide to move, add, or remove channels. Freeview remains committed to offering audiences a diverse and engaging content selection.”

If the updates are not automatically reflected on your TV, manual retuning may be necessary. To retune your TV, follow these steps:

– Press the menu button on your TV or set-top box remote
– Select “set-up”, “installation”, “update”, or a similar option
– If prompted for a password, try “1234” or “0000”
– Choose “first-time installation”, “factory reset”, “full retune”, or “default settings”
– Confirm deletion of existing channels if prompted
– The retune process should start automatically
– Save any channels found during the scan if prompted
