A community is in mourning following the tragic death of an eight-year-old boy who collided with an e-bike on his way back from school.
Zeke Hondow was riding his bike near the Kawana Way and Sunshine Motorway interchange at Mountain Creek when the accident occurred. He collided with a 15-year-old boy who was also on an e-bike, both wearing helmets at the time.
Zeke was rushed to Sunshine Coast University Hospital in critical condition but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries despite the efforts of medical teams.
According to a Queensland Police spokesperson, the Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the incident that led to the death of the primary school-aged boy. The crash occurred between two e-bikes on the bike path, with the high school-aged boy cooperating with authorities while the younger boy tragically passed away.
