Nathan, the husband of a cherished mother who tragically passed away, has revealed his plans to commemorate her on the first anniversary of her death. Emily Moss, a beloved resident of Burnage, Greater Manchester, described as an extraordinary mother and a generous individual, succumbed to sudden heart failure in November 2024, shortly after dropping off their four-year-old daughter at a dance class.
In remembrance of his wife, Nathan, aged 34, will undertake the challenging ascent of Mount Toubkal, the highest peak in North Africa standing at 13,671 feet. His aim is to raise funds for Trafford Domestic Abuse Services (TDAS), a charitable organization where Emily once dedicated her efforts.
Discussing Emily’s heart condition, peripartum cardiomyopathy, Nathan shared, “When she gave birth to Isobel, we discovered her heart condition. It was a tough period for us, transitioning from a couple to new parents, all while managing Emily’s health condition with medication.” Despite regular check-ups showing positive results, Emily tragically passed away at home after suffering a heart attack.
Recalling the emotional moments following Emily’s passing, Nathan recounted the heart-wrenching experience of realizing her demise at the hospital. The funeral, attended by approximately 300 people in December, highlighted the impact Emily had on numerous lives.
Married in 2018 after meeting in high school, Nathan and Emily had aspirations of expanding their family before the unforeseen tragedy. To honor Emily’s giving spirit, Nathan is actively fundraising for the domestic abuse charity, embodying her compassionate nature.
Describing Emily’s exceptional qualities as a mother, Nathan emphasized her patience and dedication to parenthood. He expressed the challenges of adjusting to daily tasks without Emily, particularly learning how to style their daughter’s hair, a task Emily excelled at. To support his fundraising efforts, Nathan, accompanied by close friend Will Sargison, will embark on the Mount Toubkal climb on November 28-29.
Amidst the emotional significance of upcoming dates, including his birthday, their anniversary, and Emily’s death anniversary, Nathan views the fundraising endeavor as a meaningful tribute to Emily’s memory and a way to assist others in need. Additionally, plans are underway for a special trip to Disneyland to surprise Isobel and her cousins over the anniversary weekend in memory of Emily.
