“Gordie Howe Bridge Draws High Traffic in First Days”

Statistics Canada reported that a substantial number of drivers crossed the Gordie Howe International Bridge into Canada during its initial days of operation. The highly awaited bridge, linking Windsor and Detroit, finally opened for traffic on July 27 following some delays. According to preliminary data from StatCan, there were 18,900 return trips by Canadian residents from the U.S. through the Gordie Howe bridge in the first five days of its opening. Similarly, 18,100 U.S. residents made their way into Canada using the same route during that period.

In comparison, the Ambassador Bridge and the Windsor-Detroit Tunnel recorded a total of 52,700 inbound trips by both Canadian and U.S. residents in the same timeframe. Additionally, StatCan noted that 4,100 commercial trucks entered Canada via the Gordie Howe bridge in the last five days of July.
