Canadian actor Simu Liu, known for his role in Marvel’s “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings,” has recently gotten married to Allison Hsu, a music industry executive. The wedding took place over the weekend as confirmed by Liu’s publicist to CBC News on Tuesday. The festivities were initially reported by TMZ in France.
Liu and Hsu officially began dating in late 2022 and announced their engagement on social media during a trip to Paris in May 2025. Subsequently, Hsu shared images from wedding-related events in Mexico and a visit to Paris with Liu.
The couple has been open about their relationship, frequently posting about each other on social media. Liu has also mentioned their bond in various interviews, expressing feelings of support and love towards each other.
Originally from China and raised in Toronto, Liu is set to reprise his role as Shang-Chi in the upcoming Marvel film “Avengers: Doomsday.” His portrayal of the Chinese superhero has propelled him to international fame following his success in the CBC comedy “Kim’s Convenience.”
In addition to his Marvel role, Liu has been involved in various projects, including the film “Barbie,” voice acting in “In Your Dreams,” and starring in the series “The Copenhagen Test.” He also made his Broadway debut in the Tony-winning comedy “Oh, Mary!” earlier this year.
In a conversation with The National’s Ian Hanomansing, Liu discussed the need for more Asian representation in leading roles in Hollywood, highlighting the industry’s traditional and conservative mindset towards new talent.
