“Augsburg Train Station Reopens After False Alarm”

Must read

German police closed the Augsburg train station temporarily due to an explosion and the discovery of a suspicious object nearby. The object was later determined to be harmless, and the station reopened at 10 a.m. Trains resumed normal operations following the incident.

The police confirmed that the object found in front of the main train station posed no threat, allowing for the reopening of the station. Two individuals, a 17-year-old girl and an 18-year-old man from Ukraine, sustained minor injuries from an unidentified object that exploded near the station around 3:15 a.m.

Another suspicious object was found at the main train station but did not detonate. This led to the station’s closure at 8:30 a.m. Explosives experts from the Bavarian state criminal police office were dispatched to investigate the scene.

Authorities are still investigating the motive behind the explosion. Road traffic and public transportation near the station were disrupted during the early morning hours. Reports suggest that the explosion occurred near a jewelry store and that the train station was not the primary target.

Augsburg, located in Bavaria, is a city with a population of 308,000, about 78 kilometers northwest of Munich. The incident comes shortly after the German government accused Russia of an attempted drone attack at Leipzig/Halle Airport using explosives, resulting in measures against Moscow.

Western officials have accused Moscow of carrying out disruptive activities across Europe to weaken support for Ukraine and destabilize European nations.
