Welsh actor Tony Adams, known for his roles in Crossroads, General Hospital, and Doctor Who, has passed away at 84. Adams gained fame for portraying accountant Adam Chance in Crossroads from 1978 to 1988 before deciding to leave the show in 1987. Despite the series ending in 1988, Adams returned for the 2001 revival, only to have his character killed off in a fire.
Adams had a remarkable background, being related to Winifred Brown, a renowned sportswoman and aviator. He started his acting career at a young age, appearing on the London stage and starring in productions like Peter Pan alongside Kenneth Williams. His television breakthrough came with the role of Dr. Neville Bywaters in the 1970s soap General Hospital.
Apart from his television work, Adams also appeared in Doctor Who and the stage production of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang at the London Palladium. In a more recent role, he had a cameo in the ITVX miniseries Nolly in 2023, where he was portrayed by Augustus Prew, who fondly described him as a “magical man.”
Tony Adams passed away on October 25 at Sussex County Hospital in Brighton, with his devoted wife, Christine, by his side. Christine has been commended for her unwavering support throughout Adams’ life.
