Must read

Foreign Affairs Minister Anita Anand has confirmed that one of the 30 Canadian citizens and permanent residents who went missing following the devastating floods in Nepal’s border area with China has been located unharmed. The individual had been unreachable due to communication disruptions but managed to establish contact on Tuesday.

The flash floods occurred a week ago after a glacier collapsed in the Himalayan border region shared by Nepal and China. The tragic event resulted in significant destruction and loss of life.

Over 1,100 individuals have tragically lost their lives, and more than 3,900 people are still unaccounted for. Nepal’s Foreign Ministry has reported that approximately 590 foreign nationals from 39 different countries are among those missing.

In response to the crisis, Canada is mobilizing assistance by sending over 18,000 emergency supplies from the Canadian Red Cross reserves to the affected region. Additionally, the Canadian government has already pledged $5 million in humanitarian aid to support the relief efforts in the flood-affected areas.
