Actress Prunella Scales has passed away shortly after the death of her husband, actor Timothy West. Known for her role as Sybil in Fawlty Towers, she died at the age of 93, following Timothy’s passing in November 2024.
Her sons confirmed her peaceful passing at home in London, stating that despite dementia ending her nearly 70-year acting career, she continued to reside at home. The day before her demise, she was watching Fawlty Towers. Survived by two sons, a stepdaughter, seven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren, the family expressed gratitude for the care that surrounded her in her final days.
Prunella and Timothy tied the knot in 1963 and had two sons, one of whom is actor and director Samuel West, along with a stepdaughter named Juliet. They quietly married at Chelsea Registry Office in 1963, with Prunella opting for a non-traditional wedding attire. On their 40th anniversary, they renewed their vows in a church ceremony.
Timothy, known for his roles in various TV shows, shared that their enduring marriage was their greatest accomplishment. Despite Prunella’s Alzheimer’s diagnosis, the couple continued their bond, with Prunella acknowledging the deep connection they shared.
Throughout their journey with Prunella’s condition, Timothy revealed the challenges they faced in communication but emphasized the importance of living in the present. Despite the difficulties, they found joy in each other’s company and cherished the moments they could still share.
