Michael Schumacher has reportedly shown signs of improvement in his health condition, now able to sit up after undergoing extensive physical therapy. The former F1 champion has been out of the public eye since a skiing accident in 2013 resulted in a serious head injury.
Following the accident in the French Alps, Schumacher has been under the care of his wife Corinna and a team of medical professionals. He was in a coma for several months before being transferred back to his residence in Lake Geneva.
Despite the family’s efforts to maintain privacy around Schumacher’s health, recent reports suggest a positive development. According to The Daily Mail, Schumacher can now sit up, allowing him to be mobile within his properties, although he still requires assistance for movement.
There are no indications that Schumacher is experiencing Locked-in Syndrome, a condition where individuals are aware of their surroundings but can only communicate through eye movements. A close source mentioned that while Schumacher may understand some aspects of his environment, his ability to communicate is limited.
Schumacher, who is currently 57 years old, splits his time between his residences in Switzerland and Majorca. He has been secluded from the public, with only a select group granted access following the attempted blackmail incident in 2025, involving stolen personal files.
Despite rumors of his attendance at his daughter’s wedding in 2024, Schumacher’s privacy has been respected, highlighting the family’s commitment to maintaining confidentiality. Known for his exceptional career in F1, Schumacher remains closely linked to Ferrari, with key figures like Ross Brawn having occasional visits with him.
